Union Label Letter for April 2011

Updated On: Apr 23, 2011 (14:41:00)

Brothers & Sisters

Attached is a copy of the Union Label Letter, a great resource for purchasing Union made goods. In this tough time for the middle class it is important we use our money wisely and make purchases that benefit working men in and women in the United States , not China or other countries. Please take a moment and read this informative letter.

A New Beginning!

Posted On: Feb 28, 2011 (18:50:05)
Whew! It has been a roller coaster ride. From December 4,2010 to now; we have been in a whirlpool. Since Sunoco announced it was selling the Toledo Refinery to PBF, nothing has stirred the passions and emotions of our membership. We came together to fight for the rights and benefits that were inherently ours and we won that fight. We now are out from under the thumb of the "people back east" and have our own path to travel. Yes, the documents have been signed that place Us in a position to chart our own path to success, we have to rely on our own initiatives, commitment and resolve if We are to continue to be successful. We have overcome the disregard and the minimization of Our loyal and committed workforce, and We should be proud of ourselves. Having said that, we must continue to proud and committed. This is a new beginning for Us. It is going to take everyone's energies and efforts to make Our home a successful home. I say home because more often, many of Us spend more time here than We do with Our families, a burden that We have proudly accepted. The sale of the formerly known Toledo Refinery is not an end but a beginning. The direction of the now known Toledo Refining complex will be entirely driven by Us. Its success will be directly attributed to how We make our Home successful. I personally want to commend All of Us for the work We have put in to making Our Home successful, meeting the challenges that had been placed in Our way and overcoming them. But We must remember, if it's worth having, it's worth working for. We all know this old adage, you have heard it from your school teachers to your parents, it enlists you to to work hard, take the initiative and uplift yourself to accomplish your goal. If We don't work together to accomplish Our goal, We will be doomed to fail; Failure is not an option and never has been in Our Home. Today, tomorrow when you enter those gates, you should be filled with a renewed spirit of commitment and an outlook of the future that We direct. PBF is celebrating the purchase of Our Home because they realize that this place works, this place is successful and this place is filled with quality people who are determined not to fail. Yes, they erected a big tent out front and there will be dignitaries from around the city here to praise PBF for their realization that Toledo is successful. What you may not hear from them is how the success of Toledo has always been a direct by-product of the people who work here. Don't be discouraged or become dis-grunted, inside each and everyone of Us, We know! We know! We know! I want to personally welcome All of Us to the Toledo Refining Complex and look forward to Our future. Thank You. In Solidarity Stewart Armstrong USW 912, President
